Depending on which trim you pick and how much power you need, you have three powertrain choices. First up, you'll find the 6.2-liter V-8 engine delivering 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. This engine pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission or an optional 10-speed version. Moving up the power scale, you get a 7.3-liter V-8 430-horsepower engine producing 475 pound-feet of torque. When you need massive power and torque, choose the turbocharged 6.7-liter V-8 Power Stroke diesel engine pumping out a massive 475 horsepower and 1,050 pound-feet of torque. Both the latter engines pair with the 10-speed automatic transmission.

If you need your F-250 to haul a heavy trailer or boat, add the heavy-duty trailer tow package to your diesel engine and you can get up to 24,200 pounds of towing capacity or 37,000 pounds with gooseneck towing. You get a maximum payload capacity of 7,850 pounds and a gross vehicle weight rating of 8,500 pounds. Rear-wheel drive comes standard across the lineup with the option for four-wheel drive. When you want superb off-road capability, add the Tremor Package to get a specialized terrain management system with low ranges, beefed-up suspension, and larger off-road tires.

The base XL comes with cloth seats and as you move up the trims, you get nice luxuries such as power-adjustable heated, cooled, ventilated leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, power-retractable side steps, and a power tailgate. For a Western-inspired theme, choose the King Ranch with two-tone leather upholstery, power-adjustable pedals, and a telescopic/tilting heated steering wheel.

Ford's SYNC 3 infotainment system comes with an 8-inch touch screen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. Also standard across the trims except for the XL, is a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot. For more audio options choose the subscription-based SiriusXM satellite radio with the 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system. Depending on the trim, you'll find multiple USB ports throughout the cabin and you can get the available two 110-volt power outlets for extra charging power.

Whether you're towing a fifth-wheel, tackling rugged off-road trails, or taking the family out to dinner, it's nice to know that your F-250 comes equipped with plenty of standard and available safety features.
